Review of the year: November

Flooding, death of Vicky Phelan and a horrific hijack in a dark November

Minister for Housing Darragh O'Brien launches 200 new social homes in Kilkenny in November

In one of the most shocking stories of 2022, a teenager who was in her family car when it was hijacked and crashed in Kilkenny City on Friday November 18 suffered major injuries, which had a life-changing impact. The driver of the stolen car, Dale Fogarty from Castlecomer, collided with a second car on the N77 between Kilkenny and Ballyragget and was later pronounced dead at St Luke’s Hospital.

More positive news stories included the win by Kilkenny Castle of Tourist Attraction of the Year, the return of Kilkenomics and the news of 200 new social homes in Kilkenny: 22 already completed at Station Avenue in Ballyragget and 88 new homes commencing at Croker’s Hill Kilkenny.
