Kilkenny County Council has addressed a range of issues in Thomastown through the targeting of investment and the development of proposals that aid the regeneration of the town in recent years
A public consultation is to take place to explore the potential for Kilkenny County Council to acquire, and plan for the development of the former SuperValu property at Marshes Street with adjoining carpark in the centre of Thomastown.
It is proposed to develop this building/site into a multi-use community hub and/or green space.
Kilkenny County Council has addressed a range of issues in Thomastown through the targeting of investment and the development of proposals that aid the regeneration of the town in recent years.
Significant progress has been made through a combination of funding availability and a strong community spirit that has supported innovative developments such as the Sessions House, new library, new recreational amenity park, public realm works in Low Street/Logan Street and Quayside Carpark, etc.
It is further proposed to link this site to the recently opened recreational amenity facility and, soon to be constructed, Library. This would link all these developments into a multipurpose community space offering a variety of community amenities and diverse services.
Research firm Market Dynamics has been commissioned to undertake consultations with stakeholders and members of the community in and around Thomastown to get their views on this plan. Two public consultation meetings will be held and an online survey is available to complete
Public Consultation Meeting – all members of the public welcome: Tuesday, August 15 at 7.30pm in Thomastown Community Centre.
