St Canice’s Co-Ed Primary School in Kilkenny City is one of the many local schools taking part in this year’s Team Hope Shoebox Appeal.

Pictured above by Vicky Comerford are some of the many pupils at the school handing over freshly filled shoeboxes to members of the Defence Forces.

The boxes will soon go straight into the hands of children affected by poverty.

Often these shoebox gifts are the only gift that a child will receive at Christmas and the joy that they bring is incredible.

It is an opportunity to share a little joy with children who live in circumstances where it can often be in short supply.

Team Hope works with trusted locally-based partners in the countries where shoeboxes are delivered, many of which they have been working with for many years.

This year, Team Hope  aims to send shoeboxes to children in Romania, Transnistria, Ukraine, Albania, Burkina Faso,  Burundi, DR Congo, Lesotho, Eswatini, Malawi, Kenya and Rwanda.
