Brave hurlers are born on the banks of the Nore,

With camán and sliotar, they’re raised by the score

Now lift up your glasses, let’s hear the great roar

Kilkenny is the best of them all.

I give you the amber ribboned with black,

March onwards to glory, never look back.

The bigger they come, the harder they fall,

Kilkenny is the best of them all.

Cork, she has hurlers of whom she could sing.

Bold Thady Quill, bold Christy Ring.

Those days are gone, this tale has a sting

Kilkenny is the best of them all.

Tipperary has pastures, mountains and streams

With beauty and splendor, much like a dream

But cats from Kilkenny have stolen her cream

Kilkenny is the best of them all

Galway has come to the gates of Crogh Park.

From Connacht, they travel from dawn until dark.

They’ve no use in rising along with the lark,

Kilkenny is the best of them all.

Limerick and Clare, bold Waterford blue

Wexford and Antrim, Offaly too

With Dublin they tried but could not out-do

Kilkenny, the best of them all.
