What a start to a brilliant weekend as the Dicksboro Gala Greyhound Benefit proved to be huge success on Friday night at St James Park.
It was particularly pleasing to see a huge Boro crowd from under 6 (months is one case) to over 66 across the full spectrum of the club membership turn up to enjoy the racing action, have their pic taken with Cillian Buckley & the McCarthy cup & enjoy the buzz of this great night for the Boro club. Vouchers for hot food for the kids, complementary Boro car stickers on entry and a fantastic raffle ensured all the family were entertained. The grand raffle held after main race night sponsors, Kevin Moore Building Contractors race, produced two local winners with Aidan Maher (son of the Rock), Ayrfield winning the 1st prize of €1,000, Tanya Jones, Bagenalstown winning the 2nd prize of €300 while Banim Terrace resident, Stephanie Downes won 3rd prize of €200. Another Banim Terrace resident, the affable Brendan O’Sullivan scooped the 1st prize in the gate raffle winning a fantastic Hamper valued over €100- thanks to the raffle sellers who braved the cold in St James Park! The organising committee wish to say a huge thank you to all club members & families who bought/sold tickets, the ‘band of brothers’ who sold tickets door to door throughout the parishes of St Canice’s & St Mary’s, Kevin Moore, Building Contractor - main race-night sponsor, businesses who spongramme & to the following businesses whose ads for reasons outhide the clubs control were unfortunately, omitted from the programme: De Loughry & O’Gorman Accountants, Vicar Street, Friary Court Dental Practice, Friary Street, Niall Lacey Electrical, Treflor (John Treacy) Flooring Contractors, Barlo Nissan, Dublin Road, AP Alarm Systems & Panoramic Signs, Coach Road, Kilkenny. Please support all our sponsors!
