Campaign takes to the streets

Supporters of the Campaign to Complete the Ring Road have been inundated with message of support following their successful protest last Saturday.

A crowd, estimated to be between 700 and 1,000 gathered at the Peace Park and made their way to the Parade to voice their opposition to the Central Access Scheme.

However County and City Manager Joe Crockett is adamant that the controversial scheme will go ahead.

He said that ‘a new bridge is essential for cyclists, pedestrians and for city centre traffic’ and remarked that ‘any archaeological issues could be dealt with in the normal way under the supervision of the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.”
