Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Darragh O’Brien officially opened the new LIHAF connector road in Kilkenny’s Western Environs today.
The Minister is in Kilkenny today for a number of significant local engagements.
Plaque unveilings for several new housing developments also took place earlier in the day including in Castlecomer, at Margaretsfield on the Callan Road and at the former Broguemaker site on the Castlecomer Road in Kilkenny City.
The Kilkenny Western Environs Phase 1 Infrastructure Road Scheme is now complete and opened fully to traffic on August 20,
The Scheme extends from a new roundabout on the Kilkenny to Callan Road at Burrells Walk to a new roundabout on the Circular Road at Robertshill, along the new Western Environs Distributor Road. The Scheme also includes improvements to the Circular Road (from Robertshill to Kilmanagh Road Junction) and the Kilmanagh Road (from Circular Road to the old water pump at Drakelands).
