The twin brother of murdered Kilkenny post office manager, Alan Cunniffe was buried today (Saturday) in Kilkenny. James Cunniffe, who lived at Killinny, Kells village and formerly of Broguemaker’s Hill, Kilkenny city had been ill for some time. It is understood that he died from Multiple Scelrosis.

The twin brother of murdered Kilkenny post office manager, Alan Cunniffe was buried today (Saturday) in Kilkenny. James Cunniffe, who lived at Killinny, Kells village and formerly of Broguemaker’s Hill, Kilkenny city had been ill for some time. It is understood that he died from Multiple Scelrosis.

He was 39 years old and a former hurler with Dicksboro GAA club in the city. His twin, Alan was shot and murdered in December 2006 when he bravely followed a raider from his post office on John’s Green and confronted him after the Chinese national robbed E13,000 from the premises after threatening staff.

James is survived by his heartbroken wife, Catherine; children Alan and Molly; mother Muriel; brothers Declan, Enda and Thomas; sisters Ann, Muriel and Emily, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.
