Kilkenny charity Cois Nore thanks tractor run organisers for fundraising effort

The Happy Valley Tractor and Truck Run has raised more than €118,000 for Cois Nore since 2022, with the charity thanking the organising committee for their generosity and community spirit
Organisers of the Happy Valley Tractor and Truck Run, who have raised more than €118,000 for Cois Nore since 2022, were recently welcomed to the new Cois Nore Cancer Support Centre to see how their fundraising will be used to support people with cancer and their families.
Members of the Happy Valley organising committee were invited to Cois Nore House for a special evening hosted by the Cois Nore team, providing an opportunity to show them the new centre and the facilities now available to people affected by cancer across Kilkenny and the surrounding areas.
The Happy Valley Tractor and Truck Run, which takes place every New Year’s Eve in the Woodsgift area of Kilkenny, has been a major source of fundraising for Cois Nore since the event began in 2022.
In that time, the event has raised more than €118,000, thanks to the tremendous commitment of the organising committee and the generosity of the many people who take part, volunteer, sponsor and donate.
The 2025 event was the most successful yet, with more vehicles than ever taking part and raising more than €53,000 for Cois Nore.
The recent visit to Cois Nore House gave the committee an opportunity to see first-hand the new facilities and to understand how their fundraising is helping Cois Nore to continue and expand its support for people living with cancer and their families.
“We were absolutely delighted to welcome the Happy Valley committee to Cois Nore House,” said Cois Nore Chairperson Bill Cuddihy.
"It was particularly important to us that they had an opportunity to see the new Centre for themselves and to get a sense of the environment in which our services are delivered. When people organise a fundraising event, they don't always get to see where their money goes or the impact it has.
"We wanted the Happy Valley Committee to come into Cois Nore, see the facilities and understand how their generosity has helped us to develop a Centre where people affected by cancer can come for support, information, therapies, activities and a sense of community.’’
Cois Nore General Manager, Mary Dolan said: “Since 2022, the Happy Valley Tractor and Truck Run has raised more than €118,000 for Cois Nore. That is an extraordinary achievement and is a wonderful reflection of the generosity and community spirit in Woodsgift and the surrounding areas.
"The committee puts an enormous amount of work into organising the run every year, and we are so grateful to them and to everybody who gets involved. Their support has made a real difference to Cois Nore and to the people who use our services.”
The Happy Valley Tractor and Truck Run has become a much-anticipated event in the local calendar, bringing together tractor and truck enthusiasts, families, businesses and the wider community on New Year’s Eve.
