Established since 1924, Pauls Kilkenny has been stocking communication outfits for over 30 years. It’s like every little girl’s dream to walk into their showroom, gazing wide eyes at the huge selection of beautiful white ornate dresses and veils. There is also a full selection of trendy suits for the boys too in the High Street Department Store. We had two brave young models Tristan and Abigail O’Kane, who showcased the very best on offer for communion wear.

It’s also confirmation time in our house, so my daughter Hannah snapped up the opportunity to pick out her outfit for her brother’s big day. (She didn’t pick it up off the floor!)

Communion wear

Tristan models Varones for Boys - check jacket, double breasted waist coat, blue double cuffed shirt, navy chinos, and check bow tie, all themed with the essential navy trainers.

Abigail’s first dress is an Isabella tiered skirt with diamante top, themed with a diamante bag, matching headband and gloves.

Her second dress, also from Isabella, has a dainty pearl collar and pearl waistband. The veil has pearl detail and satin trim. The look is finished with a pearl handle bag and a pearl headpiece. A selection of the 2020 Isabella dresses also come with a Celtic cross and chain.

Confirmation wear

Hannah is wearing an IDo navy pleated jumpsuit, Tommy Hilfiger flatform trainers, Mayoral gold jacket, Le Chic gold and cream skirt, with matching Le Chic top with pleated back, Michael Kors trainers.

My outfits were both from Marella - stripe jumper and yellow skirt, pink blazer and matching trousers, themed with gold top and the most comfortable Lodi sandals, available in plain or print on heel. A must buy for mammies on the big day!

At the start of our trying on session, I asked the ladies in the children’s department of Pauls, what is their top tip for buying the right outfit. Their response was “as long as the child is happy, that’s our top tip.” I have to commend the staff in Pauls, in making the boys and girls feel extra special for their day. You can experience all the brands on line www.paulskilkenny.com or in store under one roof.
