Insightful Kilkenny talks on oft-forgotten stories of World War I

Picture Gallery: Capt Larry Scallan gave the talks as part of Heritage Week events

Fascinating and informative talks remembering the lives of soldiers and nurses lost in WWI drew a crowd on each of five nights last week, as part of Heritage Week.

Captain Larry Scallan kept his audience spellbound with his ‘Seven Soldiers, Seven Stories’ series of talks, hosted, appropriately, in front of Kilkenny’s recently-unveiled Great War Memorial at Peace Park.

The free-admission events, around half an hour long, gave wonderful insight into the lives of those whose story from 100 years ago is now a part of our heritage.

Capt Scallan also gave talks on Kilkenny’s military history at the James Stephens Barracks during Heritage Week, with stories from 1798 to recent UN overseas deployments.
