Family and friends gathered in St Mary’s Cathedral on Saturday to remember victims of homicide.
The poignant Mass was organised by the Whelan family on the eve of the tenth anniversary of the murders of Sharon and her two daughters Zarah and Nadia.
Also present were the parents of Mairead Moran, who was murdered at her workplace in the Market Cross Shopping Centre in May 2014.
“The service was beautiful,” said Sharon’s brother John. “It was moving to so many people affected by homicide coming together to remember their loved ones.”
Mass was celebrated by Bishop Dermot Farrell and Fr Richard Scriven and Derek Doherty. Ben Whelan performed “Wish You Were Here” by Pink Floyd.
