Deen Celtic were ‘sleighed’ by Santa success!

Christmas came a little early to Castlecomer as Deen Celtic got into the festive spirit with their Santa Run.

The event, which offered 5k and 10k runs as well as a family run, was held to raise funds for a new all-weather pitch and walkway at their clubs grounds at the Prince.

“We had a great response to Sunday’s run, with more than 170 people registering for the event,” said Deen Celtic’s Michael Coughlan.

“The feedback from participants was just as good, with people full of praise for both 5k and 10k courses, the latter offering a tough challenge for participants.”

It was a successful day for the club, who also drew praise for the number of marshals and water stops dotted along the respective routes. The club, who will make this an annual event, thanked all supporters and sponsors especially K-Bowl, who brought bowling vouchers for participants.

Women’s 5k: 1 Sharon Buggy, 2 Aileen Lynch. Men’s 5k: 1 Darragh Cloake, 2 Brendan Mulhall.

Women’s 10k: 1 Yvonne O’Connor, 2 Stephanie Johnson. Men’s 10k: 1 Sean Geoghegan, 2 Shane Scully.
