The high temperature weather warning issued by Met Éireann will come into effect at lunchtime today.

Twelve counties across Ireland have been hit with the Status Yellow warning as temperatures are set to climb into the low 30s in some parts over the next few days.

Met Éireann has issued the warnings for Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wexford, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford.

It will come into effect from 1pm today and remain in place until 7am on Sunday.

Potential impacts include water safety issues due to increased use of lakes/beaches, uncomfortable sleeping conditions and heat stress.

Carlow Weatherman Alan O’Reilly has also shared the weather warnings on social media, advising people to stay safe and to look after vulnerable people.

In Met Éireann’s five-day forecast, it has warned that temperatures will be a minimum of 27 degrees across Ireland.

Warm and humid “tropical nights” are to be expected.
