'After take one I was ready to go' - Actor Barry Keoghan addresses THAT Saltburn nude scene

Barry Keoghan has revealed his initial hesitation in filming the final scene of his new film Saltburn, where his character dances naked to a popular 2000s pop song.

The Irish actor stars as Oliver Quick, a university student invited to stay at the family home of his rich classmate, Felix Catton (played by Jacob Elordi).

In the film's final scenes, viewers discover the Catton family deaths were caused by Oliver, leaving him the sole heir to their sprawling estate.

In celebration, a naked Oliver dances through the home to the tune of Sophie Ellis-Bextor's 'Murder on the Dancefloor'.

According to the Independent, Keoghan told Entertainment Weekly he was initially hesitant about filming the nude scenes.

He said, "I'm a bit, ehhh. But after take one, I was ready to go. I was like, ‘Let’s go again. Let’s go again.’ You kind of forget, because there’s such a comfortable environment created, and it gives you that license to go, 'All right, this is about the story now.'

"It’s ownership. This is my place. It’s full confidence in, 'I can do what I want in this manor. I can strip to my barest and waltz around because this is mine.' Yeah… it was fun."

An alternate ending where Oliver is served runny eggs by the butler - a nod to an earlier scene where Oliver expressed contempt for runny eggs - was also considered before the final cut.

Keoghan - alongside fellow Irish actors Andrew Scott and Cillian Murphy - has been nominated for 'Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture Drama' at the upcoming Golden Globes.

Scott and Muprhy star in 'All of us Strangers' and 'Oppenheimer' respectively.

Released on November 8 2023, Saltburn is still available to watch at some Irish cinemas.
