City-based artist Davy Holohan is inviting local people to visit his new art exhibition which launches to the public from this Thursday, August 10.

Launching in St Canice’s Neighbourhood Hall at 7.30pm, the exhibition will showcase some of Davy’s best work from his storied career, as well as some new material.

It will be open to visitors each day until August 20.

In many ways, Davy’s art is an extension of the man himself - reflective, often vulnerable, but always real.

When you stand in front of Davy, you know you’re standing in front of a man with stories to tell.

He’s a walking tapestry of tales. As real as it gets.

Born into a Catholic and Republican working class family in Kilkenny City in the 1950s, Davy grew up with an eye for creativity.

His student portfolio was so impressive that it bagged him a scholarship and he went on to study Fine Art in the National College of Art and Design (NCAD).

A mental health crisis later in life totally changed Davy’s approach to art, with admissions, both voluntary and involuntary, to psychiatric hospitals.

He has since found his feet and drive for art again and is now seeking to exhibit all the eras of his work as part of a grand retrospective on himself, whilst showcasing some of his new work too.
