Ignacio Peregrina, manager of Smithwick's Experience

The Barrel Yard team at Smithwick’s Experience Kilkenny are anticipating a bumper weekend of side-splitting comedy and stone-splitting sunshine as the enclosed, open-air venue prepares for an unmissable Cat Laughs Comedy Festival weekend of DJ sessions, live music and locally sourced and produced delights from the on-site food truck.

The Barrel Yard sessions continue this Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the iconic, history-steeped venue in the heart of medieval Kilkenny. The weekend programme opens with a DJ session on Friday after work with Simon and Edel. There’s live music on Saturday from 5pm with Lincoln Skins, a duo who are renowned for combining banter and laughter with live music and were specifically chosen for the Cat Laughs weekend.

Renowned local musician Ruairi Flynn takes to the live stage just after lunchtime on Sunday for an unmissable gig that is guaranteed to bring in the crowds.

The weather forecast for this upcoming bank holiday weekend is looking good, Smithwick’s Experience Kilkenny Manager, Ignacio Peregrina, said.

“It will be a bumper weekend for Kilkenny and we’ve putting on great live music, with fantastic food from Gaelic Burger who will be cooking to order on-site on both Saturday and Sunday.

“Our Barrel Yard will be a barrel of laughs, uplifting sounds, live entertainment and great food and we’re encouraging everyone, including our comedians, to come along, bask in the sunshine and enjoy great food and a full bar.

“Our team will be serving all of our own products, low alcohol, non-alcohol drinks and more. It really is the place to be to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the sun and the fun this coming weekend.”
