This August, Thomastown will once again become a vibrant hub of creativity and art as the Thomastown Creative Arts Festival (TCAF) returns from the August 9 to 18.

The festival promises a rich tapestry of art exhibitions, open studios, and immersive workshops that attracts visitors from around the country.
From the casual enthusiast to the seasoned art collector, TCAF offers an inclusive and diverse experience for all ages. Visitors can immerse themselves in a variety of artworks displayed across the town’s most charming, and often unseen, venues.
The festival showcases an eclectic mix of local talents and nationally acclaimed artists, ensuring a broad spectrum of traditional and avant-garde media. With an inclusive and family-friendly programme and launch, the festival promises an engaging experience for art lovers and enthusiasts.

Blaise Smith RHA, local artist, will launch the festival on August 10 at 2pm in the picturesque setting of the Watergarden Cafe and Gardens, and will include an African drumming ensemble led by Conor Graham. All ages are welcome.

The festival’s lineup includes a compelling roster of artists and exhibitions, including: Ian A Mannion presents ‘Memento Mori’ at the Thomastown Scout Hall, a thought-provoking exploration of mortality and material culture, Grennan Mill Craft School hosts ‘Embodied’, an exhibition delving into the human form through diverse artistic expressions and Mairead Holohan’s ‘Biodiversity and Bounty. Ancient Beauty’ on Low Street celebrates nature’s splendour with a series of enchanting artworks.

Beyond the visual feast, TCAF offers numerous interactive opportunities. Enthusiasts can engage in a variety of workshops and open studios, providing a perfect outing for people to delve into their own creative process.

Thomastown Creative Arts Festival runs concurrently with the Kilkenny Arts Festival and the AKA Festival 2024. The festival receives funding Kilkenny Arts Office and also thrives on the invaluable support from local businesses, community members, and generous patrons. Their contributions ensure that TCAF remains a beacon of artistic excellence and community spirit. For more check TCAF on socials.
