An Taoiseach Simon Harris will officially open the 51st Kilkenny Arts Festival at a reception today at Butler House and Gardens.

The reception commences at 5pm and speeches and the official opening will be at 5.30pm. 

Kilkenny Arts Festival runs from today August 8 until August 18, with a plethora of new projects and commissions, exquisite performances, new collaborations, intriguing installations and much, much more. Tickets on sale now from kilkennyarts.ie

Meanwhile, to mark the opening of Kilkenny Arts Festival festival artist-in-residence, Martin Hayes gave a special Secret Garden Music pop-up performance in the garden of Rothe House and Garden yesterday.

The Secret Garden Music Series is a programme of 15-minute pop-up performances by festival artists, taking place in some of the most beautiful and unique spaces in Kilkenny city and county. The artists who are performing are never normally announced in advance, just the time and location. They are free to attend.
