Exciting lineup for Culture Night at Butler Gallery in Kilkenny

A celebratory evening of art and music which will include activities and entertainment for all the family will take place at Butler Gallery to celebrate Culture Night on September 20.

The gallery will remain open later to allow people enjoy Deep Time Dip, the current exhibition in the Main Gallery by artist Liane Lang as well as tours of our permanent collection and lots more.

From 4pm to 8pm nationally-acclaimed Kilkenny-based artist Vera Klute will give a live portrait painting demonstration in the Learning Centre where she will paint Irish presenter and podcaster James Kavanagh. This four-hour demonstration will give you a rare opportunity to watch an established artist in action and witness the final brushstroke!

Artist Rachel Burke will lead a children’s portrait drawing workshop from 5pm to 6.30pm taking place in the grounds of Butler Gallery weather permitting. The young participants will explore creative techniques using shape, collage and drawing, offering a fun and engaging experience.

There will also be a free drop-in guided tour of Butler Galleries important collection of Irish Art. from 6pm to 7pm. A Ukrainian language tour of our permanent collection led by facilitator Helen Kuzmenko. will also take place from 7pm to 9pm.
An evening of Club House DJ Music in the Garden from will also take place from 7 to 9pm with influences from traditional Irish styles, West Africa, the Caribbean and South America, plus lots more, with artists Ushmush, Organic Produce and Flabbo.
