The launch took place recently at the Mayfair library PICTURE: Harry Reid
Family and friends turned out in force to Kilkenny’s Mayfair Library to celebrate the launch of local poet Nora Brennan’s second collection of poems, Still Time.
Nuala Roche, Manager at the Mayfair Library gave a warm welcome and said they were delighted to host the launch of Still Time, the first book to be launched in their new building.
Renowned poet Kerry Hardie officially launched the collection. Reading Nora Brennan’s new book is, she said, ‘as quiet and delicate an experience as looking up at the sky through the lattice lace-work of a winter tree. It is devotional but not religious.’
She went on to elaborate on the poet’s journey from early life on a farm to work in the education sector and later, through ill health, the loss of a way of life she had loved.
Summing up, Kerry Hardie said, ‘This is a wise and tender book, written with great modesty and care. It is like a wild flower.”
The book is available at Khan’s and at the Book Centre.
