The concert will take place on Saturday at the Parade Tower

Music in Kilkenny gets off to a flying start for its twelve concert 2025 season with a performance by the award-winning Carducci String Quartet this Saturday at the Parade Tower.

Their programme includes works by Haydn, Dennehy, Shostakovich and Shaw.

The Carducci Quartet is internationally acclaimed as one of the most accomplished and versatile ensembles of today.

Upcoming highlights for the 24/25 season include a five concert series at the Barbican Centre in London, a recital at the Wigmore Hall and collaborations with jazz singer Jacqui Dankworth, pianist Charles Owen and clarinettist Emma Johnson.

The concert will take place on January 18 at 7.30 pm in the Parade Tower, Kilkenny Castle.

Music in Kilkenny organises two seasons of concerts a year, from January to June and from September to December, comprising world-class performers from the classical, traditional, world music and jazz genres.

Music in Kilkenny started out in 1990 as the Dame Alice Music Club, when it staged its first concert in Castle Blunden, a concert of music featuring Andrew Manze and Richard Egarr.
