Overhead The Albatross to perform in Kilkenny venue

Overhead The Albatross will perform in Cleeres on April 5

Irish instrumental post rock band, Overhead, The Albatross will take to the stage at Cleere’s this April.

The Dublin band masterfully bridges the gap between the familiar and the extraordinary in post-rock, seamlessly blending strings, electronics, and synths with the raw energy of guitars and drums.

Now re-emerging as a quartet after a reflective hiatus, their sophomore album, ‘I Leave You This’, embarks on a journey that is both expansive and intricately personal, marking a quiet yet profound evolution within the experimental post-rock landscape.

A sprawling piece experimenting with elements of prog, math-rock, electronic influences, and their own already much-loved signature brand of post-rock, ‘Your Last Breath’ subtly bridges the gap between the familiar and the extraordinary within the post-rock genre, as OTA intertwine strings, electronics, and synths with the raw energy of guitars and drums.

Overhead, The Albatross describe A side ‘Your Last Breath’ as “a song that both mourns death, loss, and grief, and celebrates the awe and beauty of this life we all share with one another”, whilst the AA side is a heartfelt nod to the music that shaped the band’s youth.

Renowned for their explosive live performances, cinematic soundscapes, and atmospheric grandeur, Overhead, The Albatross are eager to continue redefining the boundaries of the post-rock genre.
Overhead, The Albatross was founded in 2009; their name derives from a line in Pink Floyd's song ‘Echoes’.

Their first album Learning to Growl was nominated for the Choice Music Prize.

Overhead, The Albatross will perform at Cleere’s Theatre on Saturday, April 5 at 8pm. Tickets are €15.
