An upcoming concert in aid of the St. Mary’s Cathedral restoration fund is set to feature a performance by the world renowned Lamoille Union High School Capella Choir from Vermont USA.

The concert will take place on Wednesday, February 26 at 7.30pm at the Cathedral. General admission will be €10 with free admission for children.

Lamoille Union High School (LUHS) serves 487 students from 6 towns in rural Lamoille county: Waterville, Eden, Belvidere, Cambridge, Johnson, and Hyde Park.

These are small, tight-knit communities whose local economies depend largely on the hospitality industry and the tourism generated by central Vermont’s biggest ski resorts, where many students are employed.

Local talents Megan and Patrick Dermody, on the violin and the guitar respectively, and the Sospiro Male Voice Choir under the baton of Sean O’Neill are also set to perform on the night.

The restoration work at St Mary’s has been an ever present ongoing project since the Cathedral first opened its doors to the public in 1857, with great strides and progress made over the last two decades under Bishop’s Freeman, Farrell and now Bishop Niall.
