Kilkenny’s Alternative Kilkenny Arts (AKA) Fringe Festival returns this summer, marking ten years of celebrating local talent.
The community-led, volunteer-run festival will once again showcase the rich and diverse artistic scene across Kilkenny City and county from August 7 to 17, 2025. Founded to provide an open platform for artists outside mainstream festivals, AKA has become a vital part of Kilkenny’s cultural landscape. It champions grassroots creativity, giving emerging and established artists, performers, and craftspeople the chance to share their work.
Organisers are now welcoming submissions from individuals and groups eager to be part of this milestone event. Submissions open on April 21 and close on May 20.
Over the years, AKA has fostered artistic connections, supported local talent, and enriched the city’s reputation as a thriving arts hub. From woodturners and ceramists to musicians, comedians, and brass bands, the festival highlights the creativity within the community.
Over the past decade, painters, writers, actors, photographers, and composers have found a platform at AKA, making it a vibrant hub of artistic expression. For more information and to submit an event, visit www.akafringe.com.
