A man in his 20s has been arrested in connection with a fatal assault in Enniscorthy, Co Wexford.
Gardai had received reports of an unresponsive male with serious injuries at a residence in Westbury Woods at approximately 8pm on Thursday.
The man, aged in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The body remained at the home on Friday morning, which was preserved for a technical examination.
The state pathologist was informed with a post-mortem examination expected later in the day.
The man who was arrested was detained at a garda station in Wexford under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
Gardai, under the direction of a senior investigating officer, are appealing for anyone with information that can assist with the investigation to come forward.
A family liaison officer has also been appointed.
