Evergreen have returned to the FAI Junior Cup Final for the first time since 2017 after a merited 3-1 victory over Castlebar Celtic in County Mayo.

The Kilkenny side took the lead through an Ethan Phelan goal just after the half-hour mark, with both sides enjoying purple patches.

But with the game in the balance, Evergreen boss Gary Maher introduced super-subs Mikey Clifford and Xoliswa Stafford.

Clifford was both provider and finisher in the second half.

The striker set up Stafford to double their lead in the 72nd minute, just seconds after a similar move between the two had been ruled out for offside.

The hosts pulled a goal back from a headed corner with three minutes to play, but within 60 seconds, Mikey Clifford sealed the deal with the game's decisive goal.
