All-Ireland winning captains to be honoured at Kilkenny Hurling Final
The living All-Ireland winning captains will be introduced to the crowd on Sunday
The countdown is on to this Sunday’s St Canice’s Credit Union Senior Hurling Championship Final with the top two clubs in the roll of honour Shamrocks Ballyhale and Tullaroan doing battle to win the Tom Walsh Cup.
In addition to what is expected to be a cracking encounter in front of a big crowd, there will also be a sense of achievement off the field as the living All-Ireland senior winning captains with Kilkenny are set to be honoured on the day.
Joey Holden led Kilkenny to the last of their 36 All-Ireland senior crowns and while he will be otherwise engaged as he lines out for the Shamrocks in the final, the majority of the rest will be represented on the day.
The idea came about after Bennettsbridge and Kilkenny legend Jim Treacy passed away earlier this year on the back of winning six All-Ireland titles with the county as well as captaining the team to glory in the win over Tipperary in 1967.
