The former Argos outlet on High Street in Kilkenny City

Tesco Ireland have informed Kilkenny Live that the company are due to open their new Tesco Express outlet on High Street 'in early November'.

The retail unit, formerly occupied by Argos, is currently being fitted out to accommodate the new Tesco store.

A spokesperson for the retailer stated that an official final opening date has yet to be confirmed.

Last November, Tesco opened their first store in County Kilkenny with an Express outlet in Ferrybank.

Until then, Kilkenny was the only county in the Republic of Ireland without a Tesco.

Plans are also currently being considered by Kilkenny County Council for a large Tesco outlet on the old mart site in Kilkenny City.
