Inspirational Kilkenny fitness trainer overcomes near life-changing injury to compete in Hyrox event

Kilkenny fitness trainer and Clara hurler, Bill Cody completed a milestone event in his life last week, completing the challenging Hyrox fitness competition in Vienna.

However, the gruelling course which puts participants through their paces through a wide range of fitness challenges was particularly special for the local man.

Just under six years ago, Cody was paralysed from the neck down and given very little hope of ever walking again, turn over the calendar to 2025 and he is taking part in what many deem to be the toughest fitness course known to man.

"After spending 12 minutes on wall balls, I was disappointed with how I finished the race. However, upon reflection I realised how far I had come," Cody posted to social media.

"To be able to complete a Hyrox race which requires a lot of strength and endurance shows just how far I’ve come over the last few years," he added.
