A hugely liked and respected business couple have announced the upcoming closure of their shop in the heart of Kilkenny City.
Breda and Eoghan, who run Breda's Gift Shop on Kieran Street, recently shared the sad news with followers on social media, after three 'special' years trading in Kilkenny.
"Dear friends, customers, and our wonderful community," the statement begins.

"This Christmas will be our last season trading as Breda's Gift Shop. After three special years in Kilkenny — and twelve years in business overall — we have made the difficult decision not to renew our lease, which is due for renewal in January. Our online store will also close.
"As a small husband-and-wife team, we have absolutely loved the journey, and poured our hearts into it, but after a lot of reflection we’ve decided it’s the right time to gently close our little business.

"It's been such a privilege to bring beautiful Irish makers and unique gifts to you all - we've always been so proud to offer such incredible talent. Likewise, the opportunity to showcase my own paintings and Eoghan's cabinet making skills in our beautiful shop fit-out. It really has been a labour of love. Most of all, we've loved the conversations and connections. Your support has meant more than we can say — you made this little shop the warm, happy place it became.
"A special thank you also to our wonderful business community, who have been so kind and supportive from day one.
"We’ll remain open right through the Christmas season, and we hope you’ll pop in for a chat, a browse, or even just a goodbye. We’d love to see you.
