Local retailer Goods of Kilkenny has removed a 'store closing' sign from its window this afternoon.

The large red-and-yellow poster, which read simply 'STORE CLOSING - EVERYTHING MUST GO!', appeared in the window on High Street, generating considerable interest and discussion among shoppers and people in Kilkenny today. It has since been taken down.

The ladies' fashion retailer with over four floors, was founded in 1927 by William Henry Good, who first opened a small shoe shop at 90 High Street. Later the store grew and expanded to include clothing and linens, to where it is today nearing 100 years in business.
