“Why would you be going to France, Italy or Spain when we have absolutely everything here on our doorstep?” Cllr Chap Cleere has praised the facilities and amenities in Kilkenny.

“We need to keep promoting Kilkenny locally, nationally and internationally.

“We have treasures on our doorstep. Come to Kilkenny, we have everything you ever wanted.”

He said tourism is now driving the economy in Graignamanagh all year round. “It’s a game changer for the town,” he said of the camper van park.

The new walk and signage on Brandon Hill are a “godsend” he added and acknowledged the support of Coillte in opening car parks there. One of the good things to come from Covid was the outdoor trails.

“We are very fortunate in Graignamanagh, we have so many projects on the go. It didn’t happen overnight, it took a huge amount of work,” he said.

Encouraging other communities, Cllr Cleere said if a project is good enough they will find funding for it.
