Plans that sought to change the use of an existing building in Callan from a disused motor garage/shop to a funeral home have been turned down by Kilkenny County Council.
The property, located on Lower Green Lane, is listed as a protected structure and plans involved adding a first floor internally.
Also planned was alterations to the footpath in front to provide additional parking and all associated site works.
The application was submitted back in February and was refused on March 31, 2023.
The applicant retains the right to appeal the decision to An Bord Pleanála.
