Detailed design underway for Callan bypass works

Pedestrian and cycling paths to be improved

Roadworks to take place

Plans for the Callan bypass are progressing, local councillors have been told.

It is hoped to improve pedestrian and cycling facilities along the N76 bordering the town.

At the January meeting of Callan Thomastown Municipal District councillors an update was given by Area Engineer, Declan Murphy.

My Murphy said that a Pavement Assessment Renewal Repair (PARR) report was submitted to Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) in December and has been formally approved by the body.

The road project is now in a ‘detailed design’ phase. It is hoped that tender documents will be ready in the coming months.

Mr Murphy cautioned that there is a lot of design work still to be done for this project and he will update councillors at their February meeting.
