Paddy Moore in his shop - probably the only available photo of the great man
This correspondent spotted a lovely posting by Craig Molloy Falsey on Facebook recently about the much loved Paddy Moore.
As Craig mentioned in his post he had great memories of going to mass with his granny and then going to his shop afterwards for some treat or other, lamenting Paddy is gone and so is the shop.
Paddy Moore was part of everyone’s childhood and teenage years. Paddy and his shop were an institution - he was a gentle and inoffensive person.
His shop was an Aladdin’s cave of sweets, sweets and more sweets. It was always a place for many to gather after mass during the week - after Sunday mass you would nearly have to queue to get into the shop.
The farmers would always drop in coming from the mart to pick up a Keogh’s rustic or pan and might forget to go home, such were the chats and conversations.
During all the comings and goings Paddy Moore never passed comment, just listened and nodded the head.
Thank you Craig for reminding us all of our youth and especially Paddy Moore.
