Funding for sports clubs announced

Callan councillor Joe Lyons has warmly welcomed the announcement of more than €500,000 in sports capital grants for the Callan Thomastown municipal district.

A total of €250 million has been announced by Green Party Minister for Sport Catherine Martin, representing the largest-ever investment in sports facilities across the country and a 50% increase on the funding allocated in early 2022 under the 2020 round of the Sports Capital and Equipment Programme. - READ MORE HERE 

Cllr Lyons mentioned, in particular, Callan Golf Club which has been awarded €186,869, John Lockes GAA Club who will get a grant of €89,724, Windgap GAA Club where a grant of €55,814 has been allocated, Dunnamaggin HC has been awarded €102,404 and Stoneyford Development Association gets a grant of €97,901.
