New Text Alert group in Callan
In November last a public meeting took place in Callan Parish Hall with the intention of setting up a Garda Text alert in the town and surrounding environs.
For the past three years the Baunta Text alert and neighbourhood watch has been up and running and has been very successful and now with the new Callan system has got the green light last week where it is now connected into the Garda Text system.
This is a huge step in the fight against burglaries and damage to properties within the Callan area and this service will spread out to the general country side around Callan, such as Newtown, Kilbricken, Scaugh, Minauns, Westcourt, Ballyline, Coolagh and many more.
Under the Baunta scheme areas such as Kilbride, Coolalong, Canafahy, Kilminick, Mallardstown and Newline are already in the system. It is a simple process to join the new text alert Neighbourhood watch.
It costs €10 per household or business to register and the application form is available at Callan Post Office. Complete the form along with the €10 and hand it back to the Post Office and the process and registration is complete.
For €10 it is really worth joining and it may help in you protecting your property or the property of others.
