Six new pedestrian crossings are proposed, on roads leading into the town centre, as well as upgrades to the three crossings in The Square.

Suggested changes to parking in The Square have also been made by the consultants. They say that the current perpendicular parking bays along the north side of The Square should change to “either angled or parallel parking” to reduce congestion and free up space for pedestrians and cyclists.

Parking for electric vehicles (EVs) is proposed in the off-street parking area on the south of The Square and should be 10% of spaces, according to consultants.
It is also proposed that The Square have dedicated bike stands with 20 spaces.
Castlecomer’s Mobility Management Plan will go out to public consultation in the near future.
