Two Kilkenny communities are running fundraisers this festive season in order to erect lights this Christmas.
You can play your part in making Callan town centre sparkly and festive for Christmas, this year! A fundraising tablequiz, to support the cost of erecting lights on Bridge Street, West Street and Green Street, will take place next week.
The quiz will be held in Fennelly's, on Bridge Street, on Friday, November 29, starting at 8pm. Entry for a team of four is €20. There will be some great prizes and even a special prize for the highest scoring student team!
This event is organised by the Callan Town Team.
Meanwhile, the group responsible for erecting the Christmas lights in Graignamanagh-Tinnahinch are calling for public support this Christmas.
Assistance is needed to put the lights up and down and carry out repairs on lighting.
The group also claim they need to raise €3,500 at least to add to committed support from Kilkenny and Carlow County Councils to cover the costs of everything.
In order to raise much needed finances, a GO FUND ME PAGE has been set up.
Let’s all do this together and light up our town for the young and not so young this festive season. Anything raised will be put to good use and make our town look great," the spokesperson said.
"Thank you in advance for your support," they concluded.
