Everyone involved in the Kilkenny Gospel Choir Christmas Homeless Outreach have expressed their thanks to all who contributed to this year’s ‘Christmas Dinner Outreach’.
This initiative, now in its 20th year, provides dinners for 200 homeless people on Christmas Day and St Stephen’s Day in collaboration with the Good Shepherd Centre in Kilkenny.
This year’s outreach began with Mass for our homeless community celebrated by Bishop Niall Coll a week before Christmas.
The Kilkenny Gospel Choir Homeless Outreach also joined with the Christmas dinner gathering in the RDS.
“At Christmas time people realise how blessed they are and so give generously to appeals like the homeless outreach,” event organiser, Fr Willie Purcell said.

It’s been a busy festive period for the Good Shepherd Centre and for the Kilkenny Gospel Choir with both parties driving forces in shining a light on the homelessness epidemic locally.
On Christmas Day, the local groups teamed up with Community Radio Kilkenny City (CRKC) to air a special radio programme, ‘Carols for the Homeless’.
The broadcast featured stories of Christmas and homelessness from the perspective of our homeless community and included the recital of the contributor’s favourite carols performed by the Kilkenny Gospel Choir.
