Editorial: Jo Jo Dullard and her loved ones deserve closure and justice - Kilkenny Live

From this week's Kilkenny People

Kilkenny

Jo Jo was just 21 years old when she disappeared after last being sighted in Moone, County Kildare

It is a very difficult and painful time of year for the family of local woman Jo Jo Dullard, missing since November 1995.

Last weekend marked the 29th anniversary of her disappearance. It was commemorated, as it is now annually, by a walk and ceremony of remembrance in Kilkenny.

Then, this year, something else happened: A new development in the ongoing garda investigation — a man arrested on Monday — the first arrest in the case.

The man, aged in his 50s, had previous interactions with investigating gardaí and voluntarily gave statements to them. He was released without charge on Tuesday. Searches on land at the Kildare/ Wicklow border continue.

Jo Jo was just 21 years old when she disappeared after last being sighted in Moone, County Kildare. Despite extensive investigations, countless appeals, and the efforts of her loved ones, the case has remained unsolved. After three decades of hoping, waiting, searching and praying, they deserve closure and justice. Jo Jo deserves the same.

Whatever arises from this latest development, hopefully it will bring some answers, and Jo Jo’s family can at last find the peace they have long been denied. No amount of time can erase the pain, but justice being served would offer a measure of solace.

GOOD LUCK, ENYA
The very best of luck to local girl Enya Cox Dempsey as she prepares to represent Ireland in the Junior Eurovision Song Competition.

The talented youngster from Castlecomer is ready to showcase her talent on a global stage, doing Kilkenny proud as well. Her family, friends, and everyone else , will rally behind her.

Enya’s participation in Junior Eurovision highlights her individual potential and also shines a light on the rich musical talent we have here. Whether she wins or not, Enya is already a rising star. We wish her well as she flies the green, white and orange —and black and amber flags this weekend.
