Two local roads policing unit members were on patrol in Urlingford on Saturday morning when their attention was drawn to the driver of an Opel car.
"One of them recognised the driver as being recently disqualified," a garda spokesperson said.
In that moment the driver decided to make good his escape.
"Unfortunately he swung down a dead end laneway and was intercepted on his way back up."
The driver was subsequently arrested and charged to court.
"The disqualified driver has to be lucky everyday," the gardaí stated.
"We only need to be lucky once."
