Two people have appeared in court charged in connection with a significant cocaine seizure.
Sean Sutton, 36 O’Loughlin Court, Kilkenny and Tara Conroy, 4 Seville Grove, Callan Road, Kilkenny were charged with having cocaine in their possession for personal use and for sale and supply to others at a location in Kilkenny City on July 5 contrary to section 3 and 15 of The Misuse of Drugs Act.
Both defendants appeared before the court last Thursday (July 6) charged in connection with the seizure.
Ms Conroy was remanded on bail to appear before Kilkenny District Court on September 4.
Sean Sutton was remanded in custody to appear before Kilkenny District Court on Tuesday (July 11).
Sergeant Morgan O’Connor said that the DPP’s directions are outstanding in relation to the matters before the court and said that the quantity of the cocaine seized to be in the region of €40,000.
Solicitor Chris Hogan told the court that his client was consenting to a four week adjournment. Judge Geraldine Carthy remanded the defendant in custody for DPP’s directions to appear before Kilkenny District Court on August 8.
Judge Carthy also remarked to the court that the directions ‘be expediated as soon as possible’.
