A man has been sent forward to the Central Criminal Court to face trial on 29 sexual offence charges.
The defendant was presented with a book of evidence in the case at Kilkenny District Court, by Sergeant Morgan O’Connor.
The court heard the man is charged with 16 offences against one named victim - eight charges of rape and eight charges of sexual assault.
The man is also charged with 13 counts of sexual assault against a second named victim.
All offences are alleged to have occurred on dates between December 2014 and March 2021.
The Director of Public Prosecutions has consented to the matter going forward for trial to the Central Criminal Court, the court was told.
Judge Geraldine Carthy gave the normal alibi warning and sent the case forward for trial.
Legal aid was granted for one senior and one junior counsel.
Bail was extended on conditions including that the defendant sign on at a garda station three days a week, reside at a named address and notify gardaí if this changes. He must also provide the gardaí with a mobile number and have no contact, directly or indirectly, with any witness or injured parties.
