A driver who was caught travelling at a speed of 151 kilometres per hour in a 100 kilometre zone was fined €500 and banned from driving for one month.
James Connors, Bergerin, New Ross was observed by a garda speeding at the N25 at Glenmore on June 19, 2023. Mr Connors told the garda that his child had ‘swallowed something’ and they were on their way to hospital in Waterford.
The garda offered him an escort to the hospital and it was refused.
The driver showed the garda his phone which showed a call made to Wexford hospital 15 minutes prior to been stopped.
Judge Geraldine Carthy described the facts as 'quite stark' and convicted the driver and fined him €500 and imposed a one-month ban.
