A woman who admitted begging in Kilkenny City was handed down a one-month suspended sentence at a recent sitting of Kilkenny District Court.
Loredana Sava, 66 LakeView, Castlebar, Co Mayo pleaded guilty to the offence which took place at High Street, Kilkenny on December 3, 2023.
The court heard that on the date in question the defendant was sitting beside an ATM at High Street, Kilkenny and was holding a cup and was asking for money.
The defendant has 27 previous convictions, including convictions for theft and begging.
Judge Geraldine Carthy convicted the defendant and imposed a one month sentence which she suspended.
