Kilkenny gardaí rush to help colleague in escalated situation with disqualified driver

A disqualified driver has been arrested after an escalating situation with a Kilkenny garda.

According to An Garda Síochána, an officer detected a disqualified driver yesterday (Thursday July 11) and, after stopping the driver, it became clear the situation required the assistance of back-up.

Other officers arrived to help the garda and the driver was "safely and quickly taken into custody".

In a post published to social media, a Garda spokesperson stated, "The Garda Station is like any work place. Some days you get on with all your colleagues, other days not as much but whenever a certain word is uttered, you are one team.

"A call on the radio for assistance is ALWAYS responded to. In most cases, one of our members has been dealing with a situation that escalated and they need help.

"One of our lads detected a disqualified driver earlier and the situation demanded that call and along came the help, Pronto.
In this case, the prisoner was safely and quickly taken into custody and all was well."
