Three people have appeared before a special court sitting of Carlow District Court this evening charged in connection with the seizure of E181,000 worth of cannabis in Kilkenny yesterday (Friday).

Damien Delaney, Apt 2, Jordan House, Castlecomer Road, Kilkenny; Louise Delaney, Apt 2, Jordan House, Castlecomer Road, Kilkenny and Andrea O'Regan, 64 Newpark Close, Kilkenny were all charged with possession of drugs contrary to sections 3 and 15 of The Misuse of Drugs Act at Apt 2, Jordan House, Castlecomer Road on September 13.

Bail applications were made in respect of all three defendants.

Garda Ronan Bishop, who is attached to the Kilkenny/Carlow drugs unit gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution in relation to the three defendants. The garda also outlined to the court that there were objections to all three bail applications due to the seriousness of the alleged offences before the court.

Judge Geraldine Carthy refused bail in each of the three applications and remanded the defendants in custody to appear before Kilkenny District Court via videolink next Tuesday for DPP's directions.
