Gardaí have carried out searches at a ravine in Ballyfoyle close to where Dean was last seen
Door to door enquiries will take place over the coming weeks in the Ballyfoyle area of Kilkenny to try and establish the whereabouts of missing Kilkenny man Dean Roche.
Dean Roche, from Hebron Park, went missing on the night of March 22, 2015 when he went to buy a car in the Ballyfoyle area. A short time later, after purchasing the car, it was found crashed down the road. Dean was last sighted in the area on the night of March 22, 2015 and has not been seen since.
In recent weeks, gardaí and the Civil Defence has extensively searched a wooded ravine area, close to where Dean was last seen. Cadavar dogs, who are trained in locating human remains, was also used in the search along with a drone from Wicklow Civil Defence which was used to map out the area of the search.
“We are very grateful to all the Civil Defence volunteers who have given so generously of their time and expertise in helping us with the search,” said a garda spokesperson.
Gardaí who are reviewing the investigation will now focus their attention on the area where Dean was last sighted carrying out door to door enquiries and speaking to a number of people who made statements at the time of Dean Roche’s disappearance.
Meanwhile Dean Roche’s family and friends along with Councillor Joe Malone are calling on the investigation to be upgraded to a murder investigation.
“We just want to bring Dean home, not knowing what happened to Dean broke my mother’s heart and her dying wish was to be laid to rest beside Dean,” said his brother, Eamon.
